Calling all Detroit-area developers or web designers to the first-ever Apps for Detroit Challenge

Code for America (opens new window) is launching a 2-week challenge for web designers, developers or other folks in the web community in the greater Detroit area. The contest asks you to build a "civic app" between June 28th - July 15th. Submit the app by midnight on July 15th for a chance to win some awesome prizes (soon to be announced, but will include a trip to San Francisco to meet with the tech industry's finest plus more!) Apps for Detroit is an opportunity to meet other web-friendly Detroiters and do something good for Detroit with your powerful web skills!

Representatives from City Hall, along with WDET, Knight Foundation (opens new window)Michigan Community Resources (opens new window) ,CDAD (opens new window)Data Driven Detroit (opens new window), and Detroit Works (opens new window) will have an opportunity to share "challenges" or problems to solve with digital apps. Over two weeks, web professionals are invited applications to solve these challenges judged by creativity, impact and civic focus.

On June 28th, they will announce powerful challenges for you to tackle. They will also connect the technologists with civic thinkers to help spark ideas.
